A LITTLE PAPER TRAIL
Demo data & preferences
Your free-play account
The game server saves your play-credit balance, rounds and awarded features. A secure browser cookie reconnects your guest account for up to 30 days, renewed when you connect. Pigeon Heist shares one balance across France, Brazil and South Africa; earlier regional balances transfer once with an audit trail. Crumb Cascade and Waiter’s Inspection share a separate slot balance. Scratch Heist has its own balance shared across its regional menus. Food Drop and Under the Cloche each keep a separate game balance and saved receipts. These records let the studio operate the demos and review game activity; they are not cash transactions.
Guest accounts identify a browser account, not a verified person. Clearing cookies creates a different guest. Game and account records are retained for operation and support; the 30-day diagnostics limit below does not delete your game records.
Your game-menu shortcut
The game menu remembers the last game you opened and when you visited it, using this site’s local storage. It uses that preference for up to 30 days to offer a return shortcut. The preference is not uploaded and contains no balance or round result. Clearing this site’s storage removes it; the shortcut does not restore a cleared guest account.
Your story badge collection
When you choose to keep a witness badge, this site saves its identifier in browser storage. These free story discoveries stay on this browser until you clear site data. They are not uploaded, verified gameplay achievements, leaderboard scores or points, and they never change game balances or odds. If storage is unavailable, badges last only for the current page visit.
Optional error reporting
We use Sentry, hosted in the EU, to diagnose software errors on the studio website and playable games. Reports contain the game or page category, software version, error class and code location. We remove dynamic error text, player identifiers, balances, launch tokens, request data and browsing breadcrumbs before sending. We do not record sessions or screen contents. Your browser sends the report directly to Sentry; we replace the IP field in the report with a zero address.
The preference below also controls browser error reports. Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track, unavailable browser storage or opting out disables reporting. Game outcomes and account recovery work independently of reporting. Separate server fault reports contain sanitized operational categories and code locations.
Optional connection & device insights
When the operator enables this feature and your browser preferences allow it, the game sends a small report to the studio game server when you open a game page, including when you reconnect to an existing account. It helps us find slow connections, screen-layout problems and unusual patterns that may need a human review. These reports are optional and client-reported, not proof of a person's identity or fraud.
A report can include screen and viewport dimensions, pixel ratio and color depth; broad device, browser and operating-system details; language and time-zone settings; touch support and browser estimates of memory, processor count and connection quality; data-saving, reduced-motion and color preferences. It can also include the time taken to connect and a count of failed game-server requests. Values your browser does not provide remain unknown.
The game creates a random first-party browser identifier in this site's local storage. It stays there until that storage is cleared. A separate similarity hint is a hash of a small set of reported device settings, calculated locally using FingerprintJS's hashing utility. We do not run its font, canvas, WebGL or audio fingerprinting probes. This collection makes no requests to FingerprintJS or another profiling service.
The server stores operator-scoped, keyed hashes of the browser identifier and similarity hint, alongside the allowed report fields. It does not retain the raw browser identifier or unkeyed similarity hash, raw user-agent strings, error messages, page URLs or precise location through this feature. Language and time zone describe browser settings, not verified location. Proxy/server security logging is separate.
Reports are associated with your game session, visible only in the scoped operator backoffice, and expire after 30 days. Matching hints can come from different people, and one person's hints can change. They never authorize play, merge accounts, change balances or outcomes, or determine competition scores. They do not restore a cleared guest account.
This preference applies to studio games on this site in this browser. Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track disables this optional collection, even when the checkbox was previously enabled. Games continue to work with it off. Changing the preference stops future collection and reports; it does not erase previous reports or the locally stored browser identifier. Clearing this site's storage removes that identifier and also resets local preferences. The server's 30-day report retention is separate from game-account retention.
